So my 440 heads have two extra water holes (I guess because they are 213 motor home heads). I assume that I can just open these up in the gasket to get the extra cooling.

What concerns me is the gasket is really misaligned on the intake side water ports (see pictures).

Do I need to open those up too? Has anyone seen this before?

I have pulled gaskets off unmolested engines that the opening towards the intake side were smaller than those. The ones towards the exhaust side are probably a redesign to change the way coolant flows to prevent hot spots in the heads. Years ago I had a machinist tell me on a race engine they would actually plug those ports on the block to (IIRC) help cool the head better. I would run them as is.

Hopefully someone else that's more up to date will chime in.
