Water pump gasket

Ok I give up I know this is not as hard as I am making it!! I removed the water pump from my /6 . How do I put the new gasket between the plate that goes against the motor and the pump? Is there a way to remove the plate? Did search for info didnt find what I need Thanks

Unsure of what plate you're talking about, but just put the bolts in the water pump and hang the gasket on the bolts, then thread them into the motor.

On this pump there is a plate between the impeller and the pump body. It looks like I would need to put a gasket between pump body and plate and then also between plate and motor??

you are correct, takes two gaskets,
for the one between the plate and the body, have the plate forward towards the impeller, put the largest cross section opening of the gasket to the smallest cross section of the plate and fish em together...
I put a very light coating of RTV on the housing and plate faces after the gasket is in place.
