I just replaced my water pump with a new one on my 68 dart with a 273 engine in it because it was leaking. Got it all back together and it is still leaking right by the bolt that holds the timing mark bracket. Do I have a bigger problem than the water pump here? Has anyone had this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Don't remember which bolts hold the timing tab but some of the water pump bolts go into the water jacket on the block & need to have sealer on the threads.

Do I need to drain the radiator and then put thread sealer on the bolts or can I just put the sealer on with fluid in the block. Also, what kind of thread sealer should I use, is there a special kind I should use for this? Thanks all

You need to put sealer on both sides of the gasket too. A very thin film. Make sure surfaces are oil free. The bolts that go into the water jackets need sealer.
