Hey guys,

I am building an engine start stand.
The first engine I need to start has an LD340 aluminum intake with no provision for an aftermarket mechanical temperature gauge, just the stock one.

1) Does anybody know how to wire the stock sender to a gauge that would read reliable? If so what gauge?

2) Or is there another place that the mechanical gauge can be inserted into the block/heads/intake easy?

3) I could remove the heater hose fitting out of the intake, but what would be the safest way to plug the water pump?

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreicated.
Thanks

on my ld340 intake the sending unit was installed right there near the thermostat,..lil towards the right side best i remember.

Yes,
The one on mine is too, but it is the stock sized one.
I need to hook up an aftermarket one, which I think has 3/8 NPT threads.
Or need to find out how to wire the stock sending uint to an aftermarket gauge.
Thanks

Maybe just use a multimeter to measure resistance. You would have to do some testing to figure out the resistance at a few temperatures.

just get an adapter to fit your intake on one side and to fit your gague on the other any auto parts store should have one for under 5 bucks

If you don't care about the factory one working, take out the sending unit, drill out and tap the hole.
