“Always be weary of a weatherstrip question.”- George Washington.

So on this 86 Dodge Ram van with two rear doors the weather striping is in awesome shape. It is held in place by what looks like 50 push in “t” style pins.
I need to take the weather striping off to repaint the doors. I was going to buy new weatherstripping- but the cost floored me. I cannot get access to all the pins from inside the door to push them out. Can you buy new weatherstripping strip “tee-pins” and if yes- where? I thought about taping off the weatherstripping and paint around it. But not my normal way and it feels like A$$ doing it that way. But at $300 for those two doors alone- is there another way? I bought new for the front doors but they were shot due to bad hinges. I bought new hinges and repainted the jams. Ugh! I just don’t want to spend the money.

SN factory seal numbers 4354114 and 4354115 or LM123-VF and LM123-VE
If any one has them? Just a shot.

I think a few places have the little white clips/pins you're looking for. Try Detroit Muscle Technoligies (DMT) first, they are very good to deal with. Year One & Classic Industries probably have them also. Just be careful removing them from the weatherstrip.

So, because I cannot wait for answers:
I found in my tool box a tool I bought possibly 30years ago for interior work back when I was a GM mechanic.
It works great taking the pins out. Take a look:
