it went to $hit shortly after noon. I went out to the lake fishing this morning and only had to wait for 5 min before I got my first fish. On my way home I got a txt from a local member that has some parts for me. I got home and hooked up my trailer and headed to his house with thoughts of car parts dancing in my head. I was almost there and a lady driving a suv with pink eyelashes on the headlights stopped short in front of me for a red light. I hit the brakes and didn't quite get stopped before I hit her. :eek:ops: I was so pissssed haven't had an accident in at least 15 years. I had to have the car and trailer towed home. Hood, radiator and support, ac cooler, headlights, grill, facia all trashed. Three good things everyone was ok, i wasn't driving a mopar and her suv only had a scratched bumper. Just another damn expense/inconvience I don't need. Still waiting (4-5 weeks) for the come in for a physical call from work and unemployment is running out real soon. This is my only dd other than two wheels. :banghead:

That sucks Peter, hope you can get it fixed up cheap as possible. Maybe check the local yards and CL for good deals. Glad you are OK

Ya I'll be hitting the jy's and cl. It's a 99 ferd escort. Started taking some of the busted $hit off of it already. Thanks guys

99 ferd escort Got it I will see what my friend has in his yard/un recovered towed cars
and if he has anything I can snag you need I will be happy to send parts to you, can you give me a list of parts ? I see you need all the head light hanging hardware and headlight.
add parts to this thread and I will see what A'1 towing has..

Thanks so much Memike shipping would probably be a killer though, and I don't want anyone shipping me parts on their dime. I got myself into this mess and I'll get myself out. There's a saying that God dosen't give you more than you can handle. Just now got a phone call that the ex father in law just went to the ER, now I have to tell my already stressed son about that............oh boy that went over great :sad1: :banghead: :pale:.

I see you are a strong minded man and raised to take care of your self as you go threw life.
Bless you and prayers sent for strength for your son and may wisdom be with you at this time, I know first hand how hard it is to be given help it's much easier to give help then receive, I learned that a few years ago here....... keep us updated and I am still going to give my friend a call and find out what other years match the 99 model

Thanks!!! Memike and Bill :D Keith/Brian/steve/doctor. I think I need to have a couple wobbly pops and I don't drink.

Remove the radiator and cut a piece of wood.. 1x4 that will mount on the top hold downs for the radiator
top and bottom  and use a hammer on it to locate the support where it needs to be
Yep I have dun this before, use the old headlight to make sure it will mount back in the right location if the old head light is in good enough shape to use to beat the radiator support pack to place. Have a wobbly pop tonight and think it out on a better day....
I am sure you need to get it back on the road as soon as you can and this will work.

CRAP, well just gonna try and straighten it out as best as I can then. It looked like it was bolted on each side under the fender bolt at the top. .... Update on father in law, in lots of pain all over, unresponsive to family, getting pain meds and running tests nothing yet. I actually got a call from a buddy that has his own business asking me if I wanted to work tomorrow :) Of course I said yes. He knew what happened and it's probably more just to help me out. He's a real nice guy. So no work on it till after work tomorrow. Got the front end up off the ground so I'm ready to get under it to get the lower rad hose and lower trans line.

The core support is a big part on the front end. You can get a core support and section it then weld the peices you need back in. I usually set everything with self drilling screws to make sure everything is perfect then weld it up.

A radiator support on a gm bolts on from the top, sides, and through the frame. On a ferd, I am not 100%. My brother rear ended someone about 2 months ago and it cost us $300 to completely replace everything out of pull-a-part. Wish I could help. Keep your head up.

You said you caught a fish? :)

Ya, looks like I hit a whale huh :) I try not to fish with my car :D Well the main thing is I need to get it driveable asap. So I'll start with the rad and see what the fan/shroud looks like when I get it out. A couple shroud mounts are broke. If the lights still work I'll just leave the pass side one in for now it's not too bad. I had to put a tie down strap over the hood/fenders to make sure hood didn't fly up on the tow ride home. I can't be without it long enough to replace the core support and don't have a welder/can't/never did weld. :( I'm a rookie

looks like you need a pry bar and junkyard parts. also if you can't get the hood latch working it may be time for hood pins.
