Went for the Hemi today

-
wasn't it listed for around $18,000? and you got it for free?
Wasn't free but a lot cheaper. That's why I said he basically gave it to us. We bought the enderle injection on the way home for $600 . That was off of a cool car that had a Hemi in it. A 41 Willy's with a hemi, from California. Primer grey car. We ask him if it was a movie car, He didn't know. But I remembered seeing it before . The car had the same American racing wheels Steve bought for the valiant on the back.

We bought it in the blind. Not knowing what it was. Just knew it was built around 30 years ago for a pulling truck. His father died and they had it on Face book.

It was run back then and made a couple Dyno pulls. That is all he knew. When we went there He saw father and son builder. and basically gave it to us.

When we got home we set the enderle injection on for pictures and then tore it down 4.50 stroke 4.50 bore Stage V rockers with indy heads. Everything is like new. Billet crank flat face achohol crank ,H-beam rods . Gear drive, Steff's Dry sump. two style intakes.

Cool looking engine for the valiant

you gotta be kidding !!
how could anybody be that lucky ??!!!!!

First things first, what year and car did the block come from ?? Provided it is an original and not a race version of some type. I was going to label this the “Million dollar” question. Swingn’…..

Its a race block. Mega hemi block. Why would this be a million dollar question? Is it because of the 4.50-4.50 B&S. We have and had many race blocks and engines. This is the first Hemi race block we own. Had many here to fix and build just never owned one.

The crank and rods are now out. Everything is new. Still had some assembly lube on rods.
Bryan Crower billet crank and rods 7/16 rod bolts. Crank has 2 keyways for blower
Crower 755 lift cam with 1.6 stage V rockers.
Pistons are JE forged 2618 material.
Valve size 2.400 intake and 1.890 exhaust

Things that need to be changed is lifter bushings . Going to install stepped style that Steve makes . also newer style head studs.

I am going down to the shop . My truck died yesterday going for wheels. Fuel pump, And I just filled it so I need his siphon he uses on his farm tractors. I'll get some pics of the internals.

These are the pictures from the ad.

Awesome find !! Oh and the million dollar question was related to if it was a o.e. block.Should have read the fine print on bore size etc. I know how some people get about matching an engine back to the vehicle it came from. Thanks for posting!! Swing’

I can't remember the last time one of our cars had a factory engine. We just took a crate hemi out of the crate and tore it down to go to the extreme. He builds factory engines for customers . But most of the engines that come here go big. Even the farmers pulling tractors. They all cheat and he keeps it secret for all of them.

From old Waukesha tractors to top fuel. Steve does them all. No CNC work here its all done by hand the old school way. He has all mopar mock up engines now for chassis builds. That shop is next in line.

He spends most of his money on equipment. I can't believe he shelled out cash for the Hemi. But at the price he paid it was a no brainer. here is some ****. only 10 allowed at a time. Some of the pulling tractor are pretty wild.

He has an old sprint car guy that is going to set up the enderle stack injection. They are going to fire it on a run stand with Zoomies. I have to be there for that. The toilets from the hemi are going on my small block.

He does what the customer pays for. Like some of the suspension guys on this site people won't ever listen to reasoning. Sure there are things they are correct on . But they live by their junk parts that they already purchased. So HEI they bought its HEI they get.

Steve is not like me. The customer is always right. He is on this site every day. He just thinks there are too many know it alls here and he don't have time to play teacher. So he scrolls and laughs. He laughs about all the posts with the employees at the shop.

Me? I won't bow to idiots. And I think its hilarious. And I have all the time in the day.

Where are you hiding all the good stuff
Its i nice shop...seen some cool stuff there
I guess im coming to visit a week from Sunday
He said big day for someone next week

Steve looks like you raised your boy right he's putting his money where it belongs he'll have a nice Nest Egg before his buddies do...he definitely has a talent for finding good buys and rare oddities

Went to the shop today to look at the pistons and crank. Good thing he tore it down. The main caps were installed out of the box and one of the surfaces wasn't flush on the block. Also the block was clearanced for the stroker with a grinder after it was honed. Stev said that puts a high spot from heat at the bottom of the bore, So it needs to be power honed.

The main caps will be surfaced and then line bored. The engine will get a refresh. All the parts are usable except for the mains and the rings. They used total seal second rings and the gaps were on top of each other.

In the pictures you can see the bores are bad at the bottom from their work. The lifter bushing are not stepped nor drilled for oil. That will also be changed. Pistons will be coated. new total seal rings and king bearings

Nice oil pan and Bryan Crower billet crank and rods
