I have a 67 Dodge Dart with a 72 360 engine. Stock engine with mild cam. What should the timing be? Thanks

Hard to say. I'd start by figuring out what curve is in the dist. A stock "smog" dist. has no business on a performance car. You want to "start" with maybe at least 10BTC, maybe more depending on cam, and about 32-35 total with vacuum unhooked. Every engine is different, depending on heads, cam, intake etc

If you have the stock distributor that came with the engine, set the initial timing at TDC [with the vacuum hose disconnected]. Too much initial timing will cause pinging and detonation and destruction.

If the distributor is unknown, you'll have to figure out your mechanical advance and subtract it from 35 degrees to get the initial timing. You can fine tune it from there.

Always hook up the dist. vacuum can to the correct port on the carb.
