what brake flare tool should i buy

-
I have an Eastwood 25304. Works very well, even on stainless. Even works great on 3/8" tubing, if you want to do something other than brake lines.

I had a cheapo hand tool from harbor freight, they slip and aren't worth messing with. I also inherited a old snap on hand flaring tool. Much better, but I still wouldn't recommend it for stainless lines or anything much larger than 5/16".

If you're planning on doing more than one car, or want the ability to be able to do larger lines (for fuel line, etc), the Eastwood is a good choice. Much faster and more consistent than hand tools, even the good ones. Not a big deal if you're only planning on doing a few flares, but if you're planning on doing a full system on more than one car the expense of the Eastwood tool will be offset by the amount of time and frustration it saves you.
