Just what did the 1968 BO29 Barracuda and/or LO23 Dart
426 Race Hemi's run.

'Out-of-the-Box' and with no modifications, and with 10.5" Slicks
on 15" x 8" Rims.

11.40's @ 120 MPH

Remember, these 'A-Body Bombs' were delivered with 'stock'
426 Street Hemi 'mechanical' Camshafts.

The NHRA 're-factored' these engines to 525 Horsepower, and classed
them into SS/B and-or SS/BA {6.00 to 6.99 Wt/Hp} for 1968.

You said "no modifications". They did not come with 10.5 slicks. As delivered I would say high 14's because of traction issues.

They rolled out of the Hurst Facility with 7.75 x 15" Rear Tires for transportation purposes. Some were lucky, and got 8.25 x 15" Rear Tires.

Cars Magazine got their hands on an LO23 4-Speed in March 1968, to do a 'black & white' photo shoot at Detroit Dragway.

Jerry Gross of Chrysler, was brought along as the 'test driver'.

With an 8-Quart 'deep' Oil pan, and Goodyear 10.5" Slicks on Cragar 'chrome-plated' stock 15" x 8" rims, he posted '2' runs in the 11.40's @ 120 MPH.
