what do i hook my timing light to ?

I have the battery mounted in my trunk, and I want to time my engine what do I hook my positive and negative from my timing light to ?

Starter relay large terminal for the positive. (or wherever your battery positive from the trunk connects up front for the starter)
Engine block or battery for negative.
Then your plug wire normally.
