seen a audi convertible the other day with a plate that read "zonnig" and i thought to myself, i know what that means, and why its clever, but does anyone else?
 
Miles of highway construction on I-10 Westbound with lots of traffic, no shoulders and very few exits. An accident will back up traffic for miles. Totally sucks, wish I had your view Jeff!
 
My post disappeared I wasn't stirring the poop it is a true story...wife was there I said 'should have stopped and took a picture":)

Sorry brother that really sucks. That's one thing I could never deal with in a Metropolitan setting. I take this road on the way home around Del Rey Ilinois. It doesn't even show up on Google Earth unless I pick a neighboring bigger town and scroll over. I can't use it in the morning when it's still dark. I got one deer in the grille of my truck doing that. 11 wild turkeys and more deer than I could count without completely stopping on one afternoon. My favorite day was a momma and papa red fox with their kits on the Spring Creek bridge fighting and playing.

My commute is only about 4 miles and usually only takes about 10 minutes, but I have seen deer frequently, a few meth heads passed out on the sidewalk, the occasional homeless person sleeping on a bus bench, and once in a while a really sweet orange 72 Dart Swinger.

There was a "methodemic" in Southern Illinois a few years back Linc. The government started regulating the sales of cold medicine with pseudoephedrine in it and the farmers tightened up the security on their anhydrous tanks and it seems to have calmed down a bit here. Snag a pic of the Swinger someday if you can. There is an old Fury in Loda and a really cool early ranchero with the 289 Badging on it I'm hoping to see again and post.

Our provincial government a few years back decided that our little city of ~100000 people would be a great place to set up a "safe consumption site" for all of the druggies to use. After a few years it was the busiest site in North America, frequented by some 700 addicts who used it over 30,000 times a month. ( my wife has the actual figures, this is what I remember).
Dope fiends were coming from all over the country, and it was costing taxpayers a fortune to run it. After an audit showed some serious financial discrepancies and a change in government it was finally shut down but the effects continue to haunt this city.

I have never ventured up to Canada but it sure seems like a pretty Country. My brother-in-law ran an asphalt crew near the border and decided to take his guys across to grab lunch. They all had minor misdemeanors for various stuff and told the Canadian border patrol they were just crossing to grab some lunch> ACCESS DENIED...LOL True story
 
Once I get about a mile or so out my neighborhood and onto the highway: Nothing but asphalt and taillights for 40 miles or so. I've been told that I can work from home, and I do every so often, but it's not a very productive thing for me to do, as I can't print, I don't have access to paper blueprints, and it's hard to just "shout down the hall" to someone.

My wife, on the other hand, works from home, and she sends me pictures of deer, fox, turkeys, and red hawks every day.

There are areas that are truly spectacular, much like most countries, and there are some places better left unseen, also like most countries. I've been across America a number of times, at last count I think it was about 37 states in the lower 48 that I have at least passed through, but here in Canada I have never been east of Montreal, but I have been about as far west as one can go. Plenty of places in both countries that I would love to live in.

Karrin works from home Monday Through Friday. She loves it as she can pop laundry in and out do dishes on her break or lunch and keep our pointer pup from roughing up our 15 year old Lab pointer mix. I would love to just for the Air conditioning and heat in the winter. We are rural but live in town. We have rabbits, once in a while a Red Fox or their kits, a deer or coyote and a nasty old ground hog that lives under our barn. Karrin named him Chester...LOL

I traveled for work for years, and with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii, I've worked, and stayed, in 45 of the contiguous 48 States, and while some of it is awfully pretty, like Dorothy said, "There's no place like Home".
 
My commute is so short that I don't even get to listen to a full song on the radio. I do see deer all the time, they are dumb, suicidal or both.
 
I dunno man one minute its here the next it isn't... is there two threads on this? I think there is, its a double post. Ill leave my comment in the other one so folks can figure it out...
