What is it with some people..

You should, anytime someone posts in a thread You start, you should get an alert.
I may not have the notifications set right. I’ll look into that, but I’m not the best computer user out there. For some reason I get prompts from FBBO all the time, but not necessarily about posts in a thread I start. I get a lot of general “this weeks favorite subjects”, which I delete because I’m on there and here every day. My tech dept. has sadly passed away, and with her went any help with stuff like this. She set things up, I use them over and over. If it was something different I had to do, she would fix it or show me how. I’ll try to get stuff straightened out.

Still think about her a bit

Whatever happened with my steak and shrimp, MOPAROFFICIAL? lol

I guess I've been lucky. I've bought and sold with zero problems. Very few people seem to use feedback, but I never thought it was a big deal. Fact is it would be very hard to build a car without one of these forums.

Ok soI have a 67 valiant signet.. and the two things that have been missing from it is...
a passenger side mirror and the Signet steering wheel.
Now I've put up on it ads for it before and never hear anything. Every time somebody puts one up for sale it doesn't last a hot minute, hell there's even a person on here that buys all of them up it seems like when it comes to the steering wheel. ..hell, one month that same person/fam bought two of them that I saw.

So there's a car that was being parted out on here and I specifically said that I'd like the side mirror from it and ask for a price. I was first yet somebody about eight or nine posts down gets the ******* mirror.

When you go to a restaurant and the waiter says .."what can I get you"

The response is either ..

"I'd like the steak n shrimp, please"

"I'll take the steak and shrimp, please"

Either one, the waiter knows wtf you're ordering, right?

I said I'd like the side mirror off of it how much do you want..
And the seller tells me I didn't say I wanted it.. tf..
He might not remember but I bought **** from him before too.

Thanks to @toolmanmike for trying to fix that.
I agree, some are in it for the money and some for their enjoyment. Some are hoarders and others want to see people finish their project. I had a friend years ago that would follow me to swap meets and car shows and he would buy parts to do a car one day. He bought several of the same parts and when someone I knew needed that part, he would not sell it to them. He died three years ago, had no family and the local government clean out his home that had numerus collected items that filled up four huge dumpsters and hauled it all to the dump. As we age, sale your stuff so someone else can enjoy their hobby. Can't take it with you.

sold a slant six Hyper Pak to a guy who just had to have it, always wanted one etc…he had it up on eBay for double my price the next day
You CAN NOT be upset by someone buying something from you then reselling it regardless of the sob story

People are allowed to feel however they want. The dude practically begged me for it with a whole string of bs to follow the begging. Lowballing me the whole time because he doesn’t have any money, he is poor. Can I just help him out? Dude shows up in a Shelby GT500. Following day he post a 69 dart for 70 grand and then throws that intake up on eBay.

Am I upset? Not in the slightest, I made my money. I was just highlighting some disingenuous behavior in relation to the topic at hand.

If members were allowed to talk about and deal anywhere on the forum it would be better. The " For Sale " and " Wanted " sections could have strickter rules and a member could use those if they choose to.
The for sale section could have a member post on the forum under that thread if they would be interested in the item, even if they wanted to know more about it before committing. If you use the " For Sale " section you would have to agree to go in order of who showed interest.
2nd person couldn't just say they'll take it and expect to override the person that spoke up first but wanted to be sure it met their needs.

Need to put an end to worrying about talking about sellling and wanting stuff across the forum. If someone wants to be more professional they have sections to go to. But.. you have to be fair and abide by the rules in those sections and one could expect to be treated fairly there . If someone just wants to get the fastest dollar they can , just shop it around on the forum.

Why don't you post that here Website Questions and Suggestions

Yeah, because ownership transfers. It ain't yours anymore. That said, some people are just scumbags
Agreed, but if you want to sell a part for 100.00 and some one pays you 100.00 no complaining.

You could have put it on eBay for 300.00 but you didn't. If you get a sob story see it for what it is.

This was the original post I responded to. Neither me or the member I responded to were complaining. Just relating to the OP and the topic being discussed.

This wouldn’t solve anything. The regular board would turn into a sale thread free-for-all with sellers trying to hock stuff anytime someone asked a question (we’ve already seen this). And the classifieds would operate exactly the same.

It’s the sellers part until money changes hands. The seller can sell to whoever they like, the first person that posts, the one that offers the most money, the one that can pick it up in person and pay cash, whatever. It’s their part.

Some people send private messages first, others post in the thread. You could be the first post in the thread and the 3rd person to send a message, you won’t know unless the seller tells you.

If the seller told you it was yours and then sold it out from underneath you, well, that’s lame and reflects on the seller. But if no guarantee was made just being the first person to call “dibs” doesn’t mean much.

I try to be respectful and go in order of messages/posts received, but I’m also not going to wait for days to hear back from someone that only expressed interest and hasn’t completed the sale.

It's my opinion that it would be better if things related to a For Sale item are posted in that For Sale thread as well as who is in line. A little patience makes thing fairer and shows all sides of the transaction. Of course you may be in favor of letting sellers use the forum ( and I'm not singling anyone out here or grouping all together ) to find a buyer and then treat that buyer how they wish.
Everything out in the open or don't use the feature.

As this relates to other things an example would be if a person was showing off a car they bought and a parts car they were going to take the motor out of. A member could see that and ask if they wanted to sell a fender and not worry about having to post a wanted thread. It may not have even been on their mind till they saw the guy's post .
Just one of many examples of this buy/sell stuff around here that makes a person have to be carefull of what they do.

if that's the case the interested party could just send that member a DM asking if they're going to part the car and that they're interested in the fender.

easy play, doesn't junk up threads or create unnecessary radio noise.

Exactly, you can always send someone a message, you don’t have to try to solicit sales on the open forum. Last thing anyone wants is to be constantly harassed about selling stuff they mentioned having or that showed up in the background of another picture etc etc

And regardless of the sales rules, there will always be someone complaining about how they thought something wasn’t fair. There’s always 2 sides to the story, sometimes it wasn’t fair, sometimes it’s just the way it goes. Either way, it’s the sellers part until money changes hands. And if it’s a pain in the *** to sell here, people will sell somewhere else and that doesn’t help the members on thr board.

I know , you can send a DM for just about anything. That doesn't help in being able to talk about stuff , just as you would out on the street, when the opportunity comes up. I wouldn't consider that junking up threads or creating noise.

i don't understand, in your example why would there need to be any discussion in a thread about that? it's not pertinent to anything else at hand and it adds nothing to the discussion. why wouldn't you just DM somebody? what's there to talk about?
