What is the best replacement steering coupler for a 74 Duster? I rebuilt the stock one and after 3000 miles, it's already a bit sloppy. I'm thinking I should go to a Ujoint style coupler. Any experience appreciated!

Not sure why yours would be ‘sloppy’ it’s a spring with two steel shoes and grease, there isn’t really any wear items?

U-joint style couplers usually involve cutting and hacking and are a general compromise. OEM design also allows for forward and rear movement, u-joint style do not

I understand, I just replaced 1 set of shoes and spring due to slop, and it's sloppy again after not alot of miles. I thought maybe the coupler body was worn, but it was good when I first put it together.

Might be a cheap aftermarket spring then? See if you can get your hands on a good original one. They shouldn’t really wear out in my opinion.
