Hi all I have been thinking about selling my ported 596 head castings.
they have 2.02 1.60 stainless valves, nice little port job and hughes valve springs. The heads flow
.100 64 52
.200 130 97
.300 190 140
.400 234 177
.500 261 185
.550 258 188
I have really been wanting to upgrade to a set of ported indy x heads
The compression will jump up from 9.6 to 1 to 10.5
i will be running comp xs282s camshaft.
Do you guys think it would be worth the $$ on a street strip vehicle
or should I just keep the heads I have?

Yes worth upgrading to those or the RHS heads that Brian from IMM Engines sells. The RHS that Brian sells will support 550hp and I think flow around .280@600?? Maybe Brian will chime in.

What does a set of Brians RHS heads that flow .280 @ .600 go for?

$1400? WOW

I apologize but that price is out of hand.

Summit has the 1.92 heads for $320 Shipped bare,
Hughes 1110 springs $150
Keepers off a 2.2L (junkyard) $20
Valves, I used the stock valves. Maybe $250 for some Manley.

$320
$150
$20
$250
$60 to install it all or do it yourself.

Total $800

Little over half of that for a set. Bingo. Just got some for my magnum, I like em alot.

they dont flow that with 1.92 nor will a good size cam work with no machine work on them. 1300 is a good price.

That would be $320 each for those heads bare. $640 for 2 Bare castings.

Agreed!!!!!! Brian ports then REAL nice!!!!! I think your right,I think its more like $1,300
How do I get in touch w/ Brian? Are these 202s? Im interested in a set. $1300 for heads that flow that good seems fair. They definately dont flow .280 out of the box, and port work is not cheap. Want a set for my stroked 340. .030 over w the scat 3.58 stroke crank. Thinking comp 282 solid cam.

What cam do you plan on running?

If you want to realize the .600 lift flow, you'll have to lift the valve there and beyond.

You may want to think more about this.

If Im not mistaken..the rhs heads done up only another 6 cfm @.500 over what you have now..

RHS flow from IMM's site
Valve lift Intake Exhaust w/1 3/4 pipe
.100 69 58
.200 141 119
.300 197 161
.400 241 184
.500 267 193
.550 271 195

In your shoes...I would upgrade to a roller cam before dropping $1400.
But then others will talk closed chambers...and all the other ways to do the same but in a different way.

No matter, either way you wont be disappointed.
