I've heard that the detergents in some oils can mess with the ZDDP additives. I was down at the parts store and they had 3 kinds at that branch. Break in additive, use just for cam break in and drain. another was run 1000 miles, change oil, done. and Rislone brand, add bottle with every oil change $9.99. also the only one that mentioned Phosphorus. girl working there said they had COMP. Cams stuff at the other bigger store. My Dad used Rislone additives every oil change. 380k on '68 Barracuda 225 and '73 LTD wagon w/460, sold it with 330k. so the stuff didn't hurt anything, got me a bottle for now. see what happens.
anyone have issues switching to Synthetic on higher mileage cars besides leaking? LA engine. Was targeting topic on Mobil-1 15w50. That the correct Weather(weight) oil to use in LA Eng. ? That OK, better or worse than DINO oil ? Thanks for all the replies, C300
