I read in a post awhile back that you should only use mopar power steering fluid. Does it really matter that much?

Back in the day, I remember using Type A Suffix A ATF for the power steering. I'm running a generic power steering fluid for the street with no PS cooler. If I were to go autocrossing, I'd install a PS cooler and possibly use a synthetic fluid. AutoXcuda (FABO member)is the best one I've run across to ask this sort of question.

I've seen ATF used. The power steering fluid you can get at the
parts stores is best. It will work better all through the heat
range the fluid go's through. It won't get burnt and black as
quick also.
