I've seen both Permatex Red and brown gasket sealer recommended for freeze plug installation. What should I use?

Thanks!

the best thing i have used for anything to do with water is that GM (i know its bad juju) white paste, think its teflon but dn't remember. just remeber when u use it to put it in the threads or hole cuz then when u install the part the paste dosn't make a mess on the out side...

I always had good luck that brown Indian Head / Permatex stuff.

I use Permatex High Tack and it always works good for me. It's a Shellac type sealer like the brown Indian head stuff except it's blue.
