What should I do?

I have a 64 Dart with the push button tranny. The gear shift control cable dropped onto the exhaust manifold and burned through the housing. Now I have tranny fluid leaking out of the cable.

Two questions :

1. Should there be tranny fluid in the housing, or do I have a bad seal?

2. Should I:
a. Try to patch the problem area with a piece of fuel line, hose clamps...
b. Repalce the housing (if so, where would I get it).
c. Replace the whole cable assembly.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

get some pvc tubing,take the cable out and slip the tube over the burnt spot and melt the ends,it will seal the leak
