Ok so all the body work is done on my 66 dart. Everything is in primer and getting ready to lay paint. Here is my current issue. I put an 8 3/4 rear from a 68 Dart GTS in it, did a moser Axle swap and a disc brake conversion. Now I need to get some wheels and rubber. I placed the jack stands under the rear end tubes to get the suspension at ride height. When I measure from the center on the axle to the bottom on the wheel well I get 13 inches. What I am trying to figure out is what is the largest tire I can get in the back of this car? Also is there are length difference on the rear end from the original 66 to the 68? now I do not want to roll stretch or do anything to the rear fenders as the body is now perfect. I was thinking 17x8 or 17x9 with a 5" backspace but I test fit a 17x9 and it seems a bit too wide. looking for suggestions, but I am looking to get a 255/x/x back there. Anyone with any good idea's? Thanks in advance.

After playing around on the tire size calculator. for 15 inch wheels. ive come up with a P265/50R15 which is 25.4 inches in diameter and 10.4 inches wide. according to your measurements of 13 inches from center to lip of wheel well a 26 inch diameter tire will be too big. but the P265/50R15 is 25.4 inches in diameter which will leave you a gap of .6 or 6 tenths of a inch. when you split the difference 3 tenths will be towards the ground and the other 3 tenths will be the gap between the tire and the wheel well which is a little over a 1/4 inch. technically close to 5/16 of a inch.

Check out this link they have P265/50R15 cooper cobra's for 98.99 ea + shipping.

other than that theres not really any other option other than a P225/60R15 which is close to 9 inches wide and is 25.6 inches in diameter and will only leave roughly a 3/16 inch gap between the tire and wheel well.

Or a P215/60R15 which is 8 1/2 inches wide and is 25.2 inches tall and will leave close to a 7/16 inch gap between the tire and wheel well.

in a 16 inch wheel you can get a 245/50R16 which is 9.6 inches wide and 25.7 inches tall and give you a gap of a 1/8 of an inch.

now in a 17 inch wheel you can get a 255/40R17 which is 10 inches wide and will be 25 inches tall and give you a 1/2 of an inch gap between the tire and wheel well.

or a 245/45R17 which will be 9.6 inches wide and 25.7 inches tall and give you an 1/8 of an inch gap.

or a 265/40R17 which will be 10 1/2 inches wide and 25.4 inches tall wich will leave you with a gap of close to 5/16 of an inch.

or a 275/40R17 wich will be 10.8 inches wide and 25.7 inches tall and give you a gap of a 1/8 of an inch.

in a 18 inch wheel you can go with a 255/35R18 which will be 10 inches wide and will be 25 inches tall which will give you a 1/2 inch gap

or a 265/35R18 which will be 10 1/2 inches wide and will be 25.3 inches tall and will give you roughly a 3/8 of an inch gap.

If it was me i'd go with the 255/40R17 on the rear.
and maybe a 215/45R17 or a 205/45R17 on the front.

good luck hope this helps.
