Have a 10.5:1 340 w an XE282S cam (.520/.540 lift 282/290 duration). Was going to be going in a 4 gear so stall did not matter, but have now acquired an auto car to dump it in. Will be going in a dart w 727 and 3:91s. Was leaning towards a 3200. Im thinking a 2500-2800 will not be enough

i had a 9.5 lupo 5000 and a 8 turbo action in my 340 and love the 8".....with a 950hp carb i may have had a little more comp. like 11.1 oh sorry now i see you have 3.91 gears ...i had 4.57 and 28/10.5 tires

I am interested in opinions too as I will be running the same 340 setup 727 and 3.91 gearing. The 727 is a 340 tranny so there might be a slight difference.

I did manage to pick up a 2500 stall converter for a good price last year and I was told that it would work just great.

I've attached a spec sheet you should use when looking for a High Stall Converter. Be honest with your answers, cause if you bs a converter supplier, chances are you'll get the wrong one. If you've got a dyno sheet, send it along also. Never guess at horsepower as you'll be wrong.
NEVER BUY A USED CONVERTER, as it's a sealed item, and until it's been cut open by a converter builder, you don't have a clue to it's condition. I worked in the converter industry and saw many used converters, being wrong for an application, or in need of serious repair. I saw a lot of guys get burned with used converters, and sometimes the used High Stall you're buying isn't a high stall at all.
If the spec sheet doesn't come through on this page email me and I'll make sure anyone who wants it, gets it.
