I have seen one thing that will work on internal corrosion but it strips the finish off the carb, SNO BOWL toilet bowl cleaner will do an amazing job of cleaning up a crusty corroded carb but you can only leave it in to soak for about 10-15 minutes as it will actually dissolve the carb if you leave it in too long.

Sounds acidic.

If I remember correctly the SNO BOWL has dilute hydrochloric acid in it. The other problem with it is that if the corrosion is extensive then after it has done its job air and fuel orfices are sometimes larger than they originally were and you have a carb that looks like great raw material for building that won't work worth a flip. Unfortunately I found this out the hard way. However at the price of a new holley double pumper these days, I would probably be willing to gamble with the loss only being the bottle of snow bowl and some of the gaskets in the rebuild kit.
