I have a 340 block that I was planning on making a 373 stroker and I was going to put a 318 in my car to learn to drag race with. Well the parts car that I was going to buy that I was told had a 318 in it has a 383 in it. The casting date on my 340 is 11/17/69 and the 383 is in a 66 Polara I am sure it is the origional motor. Should I sell The 340 block to a restorer and use the 383. How hard is it to get a 383 into a Duster. Does anyone know what rearend would be under a 66 Polara with a 383 it is a 4 door. I went to look at the car today and it was sunk ito the ground where I couldn't see the rearend. What is my 340 block worth. It is bare and has been boiled out and magna fluxed. It is bored 20 over right now and needs to go to 30.

Thanks Nic

:jocolor: Wee--l-l-l if You ask me what you should do? You should finish the 340, and go ahead and get the polara use the reareand in your car, but send the 383 to Texas to go into a 74 Scamp! But that's just what I would do.... But really If you can get an untouched 383 my gut says go for it.

Hey ScampX, sounds like your kinda sorta maybe possibly lookin for a small big block for your small car. I happen to know of a selection (2 400 ci bare block,2 440 bare block, 440 crank, 440 from a 67 complete from intake to oil pan exhaust manifold to exhaust manifold, and even a 727 trans to go behind it) Let me know if you r interested. Either that or I might get an urge to throw that 67 440 in my 73 :evil2:
