What to use to attach sail panels?

1969 Dart hardtop. I know what was originally used, but since it isnt seen, I thought maybe there was a better solution? I can see the tack/brad/nail that they originally used pulling right through the fiberboard sail panel. If I knew where to get the tack/brad/nail, I could add a washer to spread the load and prevent pull through. Are there other options? What have you used?

Second question. Got the sail panels from DMT. They have a tab that folds on the edge at the package tray. Am I correct in assuming this folds UNDER the package tray?

On a 69 Polara I used velcro, but did have some original clips still in place

I have my original boards, but I don’t remember any clips. All I can find is that tack/nail that attaches to the inner structure.
 
I have no idea what the did on the a-bodies as I have a fastback, this was my Polara.
