Hi, wondering if anyone can offer info on using wheel adapters on 69 dart 10" drums 1" thick 4" to 4.5" bolt pattern. Also any idea of wheel backspacing? Thank you kindly for any info you can provide.

Wheel adapters have been successfully used for decades.

As for offset... Your moving the wheel outward 1inch so if your wheels are centered now you would need more offset to the inside , (If it was 3.5 back spacing now you would need 4.5 back spacing for the wheel to be on the same place.)

I would (and have) use only quality billet ones, use loctite on studs for adapter to axle shaft, and check them every so often.

Yup, gotta check both sets of lugs! Do that and you'll be fine.

Problem will be finding 15" wheels with enough backspace. Most of the off the shelf 15" wheels barely have enough backspace as it is, finding them with an extra 1" will be hard. For example, normally a 15x7 with 4.25" of backspace fits great on the front. To get the same fit, you'd need 5.25" of backspace. But finding 15"x7" wheels with even 5" of backspace is a tall order, normally requires custom.

Not saying it's impossible or anything, but if you're looking for 15" wheels it will be tough. If you want 17" or 18" wheels, much easier.

Agree. If you want to use adapters, I would look at wheels intended for late model mustangs first, to get enough backspace.

Hi Guys, Ok ....my Freind has a pair of old school American Racing 15" X 5" torque thrust wheels. They are just like you said lacking back space at 2 3/4". Being that they are a 5." Wheel do you think I could use??? Thank you to all that replied!!!

Not with a 1" spacer. They'd barely fit as it is. With a 195/70/15 they'd be within an 1/8" of my 275/35/18's for fender clearance, without the spacer.
