Would a 4 5/8 back space on a 15 x7 wheel work on a duster, dart, valiant? Anyone run an offset similar to this on any vehicle?
bolt pattern is 4 1/2.
aftermarket type wheels, thanks for assistance, Lawrence

That's a good amount of backspace, which will move the tire closer to the rear leaf springs. I know that typically, 15"X7" wheels with 4.25" of backspacing work well on stock suspension configurations. I can't see the extra 3/8" being a huge issue, but I would wait to hear from somebody that's done it. It may bring the tire too close, depending on your suspension setup and tire choice.

It will probably work, the tire will be real close to the front leaf spring clamp. May need a thin spacer 1/4" or less if running a wide tire like a 255 or 275.

15 x 7 steel wheel 4 1/2 backspace . 235/70/15. plenty of room in the rear

thanks for the visual 73 EE--- pictures always help.

My stock Duster has 15x7 wheels with 235/60s --backspacing is 4 1/8". I just checked and I have 1.5 inches of clearance between the tire and spring.

Are both your front and back tires this same backspace? or just the rears?
