Where is all your car stuff going when you go to heaven?

Did you know the propaganda film "Reefer Madness" went immediately into the public domain as soon as it was released, because its makers fuсked up the copyright notice? True. It can be watched (colourized, upscaled to 4K) for free on the Internet archive.

(imagine the conniption fit our grandparents and their parents might have at the very idea of wrecking a black-and-white movie by adding colour to it. Kids today! The absolute nerve! Hell in a handbasket, I tells ya!)
Heavens to Murgatroyd!!

*clutches pearls*

i dunno man, there is a "melee" setting and something marked "scramble missiles" that i've not activated and frankly i'm kinda scared to.

also, i may be so hopped up on sour patch kids that i may not feel any pain what so ever.
Tell me more about Scramble Missles and how to access them? Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, select, start??

forgot the A, B, A, B in there man!

Most of my cars have family history. The ‘51 Dodge B3B (next for rebuild) was our farm truck, the ‘54 Chevy 150 wagon was my FIL’s. My ‘53 Dodge B4B belonged to my grade school bus driver. And my Barracudas are all memories of my wife’s and my dating and lifetime.

With that in mind, I have drug my son and daughter to car shows and swap meets. Son loved it, daughter not so much. I have had both of them help work on them - they understand the value. Son works on his Mustang, 5 yr old grandson is hooked, and son-in-law wants to learn.

Everyone knows the are “time machines.” Relics of a time past.

Because of this, we have discussed who gets what. In addition, i have asked them to not sell the heirloom vehicles unless none of their kids, or their cousins want them. My kids both have friends that are into classic cars, but no money. I told them to offer to give them some of the cars they don’t want.

When I’m gone, I suspect at least one of the trucks will get a modern engine and suspension. I don’t think the wagon will get altered. Other than that, I’m certain my son will be tasked with thinning the herd.

Right now, son gets a ‘70 Barracuda convertible, ‘54 Chevy 150 wagon, and the B4B. Daughter gets a ‘67 Barracuda convertible and the B3B. And the ‘74 Barracuda has not been decided.

It’s a lot, but this hobby was cheap when I bought in. Now, not so much

I have a "living will" with a Mopar buddy of mine. If he goes first, I am charged with selling his vehicles and his stash of parts. If I go first, he is charged with doing the same for me. That way, neither wives, nor kids have to mess with it!

a group of us talked about this arrangement. out of four, one has since passed and another is out of touch. that leaves two of us to handle/help with the others clean up.

I want to make packages of small parts I have, like lets say electrical stuff. ITSall NEW stuff! Offer it on here for cheap. say like 30% of cost on Rock for instance. A guy could have a lot of spare parts for cheap, to simple put in a plastic box for whatever!
Or like I have a collection of auto floor shift linkage accumulated form back, in the 80s. E, B, A body stuff. I can not look at any and state what it is!!!!!!

I opened box the other day and found it's half full of dash switches. as you say, can't say what they are from anymore. same with the carton of saved wiring harnesses. I sure there will be more surprises as I dig.

This is a good topic that i have given thought to.
I don't have any family, i live alone, and the end of the line, nobody left, family wise.
I do have a will made out, who gets my car, who gets my guns, who gets my bank account money, if there's any left, the way things are now a days.
Who gets my tools, vintage stereo equipment, all my parts collection, household items, personal possessions, when i conk out.
Probably the way the modern generation is, nobody is going to want anything.
Then i guess my friends will just have to call Junk King and haul everything to the junk yard.
I'm 72, in decent health, but have medical conditions that won't be keeping me alive forever.
Already had a cow valve replacement, on my heart, so how long does one of those last?
And have a bone marrow, white blood cell, mutation, that's controllable with a medication, but uncurable, so how long, is the pill going to be good for.
Something, sometime, is going to take me out. That's just the way it is.
I'm perfectly ok with human mortality.

^^^ I think we all would like think our possessions, our toys have a $ value. Otherwise we tend to question our self worth, which is wrong.

Other month, I made my mind up to sell down to just one old classic I had 4. So I got down to 2. Then down just one, that has all the body /paint done and all it needs in installing the NEW front end parts and installing the freshened engine and rebuilt trans. Yes really hard for me now in my health. It been for sale for 4 months not one looker. No, not a Mopar!!
I get a zillion thumbs up, all say really nice car and good price. You know the usual of too far, wife wrong let, can't get away the Canary is sick. etc.
Well I did get a call last week form Ohio. Then I figure out the just wanted my dated motor. NOooo.
Finishing my LAST project ( if I get it done) will be my last. Period. Done. and I give a crab about buying any "modern" muscle. If I buy anything it will be just a good running pickup that is not wore out and damn sure NOT new!!!! Transportation!!!

Life is a circle and we all make that circle.

If there name is not on the title I don't think that they can sell them

If it's stated in a will, or thru executrix, or a specific drawn up POA......You can sell anything......
With a POA, I sold a house with a deceased Husband & the Wife was Up-State, loan brokered by the Gubment(mistake), & lending institution(actual bank) that remained anonymous......

That's good to know. Our local DMV wouldn't accept a will of a car because a will can be forged, the lady said that the persons name had to be on the title as owner or as TOD, But that's Missouri

Very true. When I look back at my life of 55 years, it's plain to see that 95% of my life was just a waste of time. But I do place alot of self-worth in my 30 year car collection. It makes me feel good that my life was not totally wasted. Even if non-car people can't understand it, I feel that something was accomplished in the last 55 years that certain car enthusiasts can understand.

I want to step in here and thank the members that have shared there thoughts on this, something to think about and learn from, at 67 and hopping the meds I take daily to combat my Bone cancer hangs in there ad I eat and move around my little area here on the hill in northeast Arkansas, my wife of 45 years and I enjoy the simplicity of our life, 2 years ago I frantically wired and test fired my work of 7 years, now I am test driving it and enjoy driving it on short runs, I feel it's ready for a 700 mile trip and back home.

Keeping two feet on the ground and moving as I watch my two sons and grandchildren live there life, watching them gives me strength to keep at it .. again, thank you to the members here I have know for quite awhile and new one.

Tomorrow is another day and I think I need to talk to a lawyer friend I have..

Having had some great Mopar friends pass away I have given the cars away in my will and also enlisted trusted Mopar friends to help my wife get rid of all the parts and related stuff... as an enameled sign in one of my building says: "I hope that when I die that my wife doesn't sell off my parts for what I told her I paid for them"

What are you guys going to do if your wife passes first?

sell her stuff off, buy more mopar junk and marry somebody young and hot. duh.
Actually, young hot female Mopar enthusiasts are almost impossible to find (or any female car enthusiasts). The young beautiful women you see at Concourse de Elegance shows are not there for the cars!!

Nah! They’re super easy to find! Just hop on over to the Hot Mopar Babes thread and you’ll find a ton of females that I’m sure are all Mopar aficionados, every single one of ‘em!

^^^ I ain't giving up. Today my wife will learn top shoot some urethane primer!!! On the roof, because I can't climb a darn ladder anymore and can't raise my arm high enough!!! (For her sake, she better do acceptable work!!!!!)
But I have confidence!!!!

And might I add, fact is FABO members tend to become family even though most of us have never meet. It would be hard to find a group of people anywhere more dedicated to a hobby and also that offer untold riches in advice, knowledge, friendship.

@memike I hope you might be able to make a trip to S E Texas in that hot rod build!! and stay with wife and for a visit. Glad to hear that old Mopar is motivating! Hang in there friend and keep those kids and grand kids motivated and busy!!
