Which way do the rubber oil pan seals face?!

Ok...another quick question!
Which way do the rubber oil pan seals face?
There's a step/notch on only one side...inside or out?
Also, RTV anywhere?

Answered my own question. ...the plug holes are different sizes.....duh

Yes, RTV. I actually put a small bead on the side that touches the pan as well as the block. Corners too...

Always worry about RTV on anything but the corners because is it so slippery when wet! I've had a few try and move on me.... Good thing they have whiskers!

i always RTV and add fluids a day later.
...Give RTV / silicon 24 hrs to cure.
