Hey Guys, I'm working on the interior of my '70 Swinger and it's about time to replace the carpet. I know the cars originally came with 2 piece carpets, but I'm not stuck on the original look at all. To me, a 1 piece carpet makes way more sense. Can anyone tell me who makes a good 1 piece molded carpet?
Trim Parts through Summit Racing has it. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/oam-53638-601/overview/year/1970/make/dodge/model/dart I just ordered a headliner kit for my 70 Dart on Saturday night and received in Monday afternoon. It is a PUI part $63.97.
Hey guys, thanks for all your replies. I did some more research last night, and it seems like the carpets for later cars (74 - 76) are more likely to be one piece, but none of the vendors I found definitively said they were one piece carpets - many said two piece, and others said nothing - but none said one piece. I guess I'm going to contact one of these vendors and ask whether or not a one piece carpet is something they can do.
If you can't find a premoulded carpet in one piece and are determined you can always mold a few yards to your floorpan. Get the polypropylene backed rather than rubber as it will take a set with heat. Bit of a workout but do able.
There was a carpet review on March 1, 2015, done by Serj22. The carpet he installed and reviewed was a one piece carpet. Here is a link to the thread. My Review of $126.00 Carpet (pictures too) Travis
I just got the ACC carpet from Rockauto. It is molded and is 2 peice. A great way to cut for the seat belt bolt holes is after you locate the place where it goes, use a hole saw bit and run the drill in reverse. It cuts a perfectly round hole.
