Why are there different color GTS emblems?

When looking at repop GTS emblems, I noticed that you can get them trimmed in red or black.

Is that how they came from Dodge? If so, what determined the color?

I always thought it depended on the body color.

It comes to memory the different colors depended on what engine was used.

I am an Old School Senior Member so my memory may not be 100% accurate. LOL!
