Local track has SSS points race scheduled for Saturday, but forecast is for a slight chance for rain. This is bracket race only no 10.5's no exhibitions which draw audience.
It rains 1/4" Saturday morning. No more rain forecast until after midnight. Time trials scheduled to start at 5pm. They decided to cancel sometime Sat morning.
Additional info: 150 miles away no rain in forecast and many racers were talking about going there rather than risk the chance of rain. Do you think this played into their decision?
Did they rain it out because of weather? (safety reasons)
Did they think they wouldn't have enough cars to break even? (financial reasons)

I have run into this before. A track owner told us that when it is called for rain and the track personal leave it is hard to have them come back to work if conditions get better. He said "Once we let them go home they are gone for the day."

I was in the oval track promoting game for several years... it's tough to make a decision whether to run or cancel. Just a threat of rain will kill the attendance... not everyone is a diehard fan or racer. If the track is not very profitable it's tough to make up that income... no promoter likes to lose any event. Tuff deal anyway you look at it.

the pre internet days.... watch the news, flip a coin, pull 4hours, sit, wait, hope. That was the un-fun alternative.
