So I know absolutely nothing about tire sizes. Right now I have a '72 Scamp with some really old tires on it, E78-14 on the front, and D78-14 on the rear. I found a used set on Facebook, 195/70/14 with 50% tread left for $80. Will these tires work? I just need something so I can move/drive the car around while I fix it up.

addressing the OP's original question - hell yeah they'll work for roll around tires - I'd go to 205 -70-14s when you buy new ones... closer to the original height and will also fit fine.

my duster came stock with D78-14, and the metric conversion is basically 185/75R14. I've been running 195/70R14's (the metric equivalent of E70-14) on my duster for 32 years
