I'm helping a guy put together an A Body 8.75" rear end for his 73+ Duster that currently has an 8.25" rear. Will he be able to unbolt the whole rear brake assemblies from the 8.25" rear and use them on an A Body 8.75" housing, if we buy big bolt pattern axles?

Will we be able to just drill the 6 o'clock hole in the backing plates from the 8.25 axle, and the other four holes line up? Please no guessing, or someone knew a guy whose cousin knew a guy that was the brother of someone that thinks they did it. I would like a definitive answer from someone that has actually attempted this swap, and either succeeded or failed, and why. Also, it would be nice to hear of any tips or warnings.

This guy is about 6.5 hours away, and I really don't want to show up without the right parts.

Thanks.

.................no problem at all.............the 8.25 backing plates should already have the 5th hole.........kim............

Ah, the fifth hole. Is that like the second shooter? Ha, ha.

Anyway, I see that hole in this picture. Thanks for the info, guys.
