I'm just looking for some info. Wanting to know if it possible to mate the LA 340 to a NAG1 transmission? Is there a kit? Has anyone done this?

The bellhousing bolt pattern is the same, that's about it.
Foreseeable problems:
Some NAGs have a passenger side starter. Won't work on LA/Magnum.
Torque convertor doesn't have a ring gear. Finding a 6 bolt flexplate with a ring gear to fit the NAG convertor and the LA/Magnum crank flange could be an issue.
Trans control: there are stand-alone controllers out there, but very pricey.

I'd look at an 8HP70 instead. Seems like there is more progress on making one work behind an LA than there is a NAG1. At least one thread on here on the 8HP70.

But I haven't been looking, so maybe someone has made a NAG1 swap work. No idea.

In regards to the starter, pretty sure the bellhousing can be unbolted and a AWD bellhousing used to get a DS starter.

No clue on the rest of it.

One thing to look at is Hotwire Auto and their article on making a NAG1 work behind a G3 Hemi. Not completely useful, but pretty sure you will need most (if not more) of what they say is required.

What do you think the advantage would be ? They are very good transmissions but …. 6cyl ones are weaker than the v8 ones different internals . Just something else to fowl things up .
