Windshield Wiper Linkage Access

I've got a 68 Valiant and the wipers do not move but the motor jumps. I've got the service manual, a Hayes, and a Chilton book but all 3 say to go up under the dash but do not tell me what I need to remove to get it out. I know there are hoses blocking my way. I can just reach the passenger side end through the glovebox.
I wish I could just remove the cowl but it's connected to the roof. So....

Has anyone found an easier way to access the wiper linkage without removing dash?

Only way to reach those parts is to reach up under the dash or remove the entire dash which involves removing the windshield.

Removing guage cluster might help also

Varies a little with model but... Left pivot can be accessed by removing the inst' cluster. Right pivot and motors pitman arm attachment can be accessed by removing the radio and/or climate controller and bezel(s).
Rally dash gets all being a single panel bezel assembly all the way across.
