Wing Cutouts on 72 Duster340

That being said, the ribbed or ''spine'' deck lid showed up on the late '71 cars as well as the bumper jack slots that all of the '72s had.
I had a late build '71 Duster (07/ 23/ 71) that had the ribbed trunk lid w/cut outs for the spoiler and bumper jack slots. It was an all original slant 6 car including paint if that matters.
My '71 Demon Sizzler has a flat trunk lid with spoiler cut outs and it's build date is late Feb of '71, and it's all original. It has no slots in the bumpers for the '72 style jack either.
A footnote here is that the trunk lids are easily changed due to damage etc. so if it isn't original paint, (or documented) then who knows what has been done in it's past?

...one at least....

I know of a 72 Dodge Demon that came with the tape stripe the twin snorkel hood scoop and Gullwing on the trunk with the spine trunk lid all original....unmolested

And that would be correct for a '72.
Not a '71...

My 71 has no rib in the decklid. Built in 1-71. I had to look at pics, just now....to see if it has the cutouts. It does.

My Duster is a late build July 9th last day of SPD and has the cut outs and factory J81 gull wing. It's a ribbed trunk lid, has the bumper slots, blue engine and some other late build oddities. My understanding is that the late build 1971 cars with ribbed trunk had wing cutouts and that was the end making these lids quite rare. !972 there was no wing option so there were no cut outs on the lids, albeit I am sure you could still buy a spoiler from the dealer in 1972?

Only 10% or less of 72 ribbed trunk Lids were cut out for the spoiler...I've had many, many dusters...the decor package 72 I had didn't...but it had
