i put the new motor in the scamp. and went from auto to 4 speed at the same time. it is time to start the motor. when i turned the key with the battery hooked up nothing happened. almost like a neutral safety switch. where is the auto one? is it in the tranny or shifter? i still have the auto column in it so i have the shifter there in park. what else should i check?

Check the fusable link (I think thats what its called), cable just under the brake master cylinder and it will have a white junction in back by the firewall. Grab hold of it and give it good push together just like you would fit two extension cords together. That very well could be the problem.

The neutral safety switch is in the tranny on a auto car. It is the round plug on drivers side just above pan. The switch grounds the starter relay.

If you still have the starter relay for automatic , locate the yellow wire and test it be be hot when the switch is turned to start. Locate the brown wire and short it to a ground ( which is what the neutral safety switch does / or did) . Relay should function now. Fire it up :)

ok sweet. that souns like it is exactly my problem. thank you:) i will get a video of it running here soon and will post it:)
