Is there anyone out there who will re-create a two-piece pistol grip handle in wood to look like the plastic grips? I have a nice walnut steering wheel that makes the plastic faux-grain grip handle look really cheesy. I've spoken to several people who make wood grips for current generation of Challengers (which are one-piece grips) but can't find anyone who replicates the old-style grip in real wood.

Try googling "mopar pistol grip handles". This one came up at the top of several

I've not used them. I intend to carve my own.

Someone makes them. As I had one awhile back of real Walnut. Sold it.

I thought there was a dude who made them out of exotic wood like teak or something similar and the company was called gunslinger. Made pistol grip shifters for the modern or late model stuff. Not sure if still around ??

Thanks everyone, I have a message in to the Idle Hands Woodworking folks to see if they can make this. Meanwhile a FABO member near me reached out to say he was getting set up to make wood grips, so I sent him my grips to use as a template. I'll post what I come up with.

Brewers bought out Gunslinger i believe Noel. I saw them a few years back at Mfest. It was tempting for the 69, but never bought one.

I just finished this for a friend as a favor, it's black walnut that he supplied. I've never made anything this intricate before, I've made many knife handles though. I wouldn't do another, very time consuming.

Very nice work, I can only imagine how time consuming it was. I have a member looking for one they believe they have, and another member setting up his equipment to try to make me one. Thanks for sharing the image!

A brief follow up post on the pistol grip handle. I used Nick at Idlehandswoodwork. It took about 5 weeks, but I am happy with the results. I got to choose the wood (mahogany) that perfectly matches my steering wheel.

Do you mind sharing the cost? For some reason, I can’t pull up his website.

Not bad at all for all that labor. Do you know if I can send in my own Purple Heart for him to use?

How are they mounted, I don’t see no screw holes.

He uses rare eath magnets to hold them on so there are no screws showing. They stay in place really well.

Everything he does is custom, so there's a good chance he can use what you have. Best time to catch him is in the morning - east coast time.
