Stop in for a cup of coffee

Yeah, I in the camp that says leave the kid alone.

This is exactly why you aren't allowed to post comments in a for sale thread. If you think the price is too high, don't buy it.

No, but we have to get him in check before he turns into another Justin Figgatt....
No, we don't. We aren't the Mopar Police and he's just asking a price for an item he wants to sell not ripping people off like Figgatt was taking stuff and not paying for it. If the tranny doesn't sell at the price he is asking, he will learn that it isn't worth what he thought it was.

All he's learning now is that this place is hostile...and that's the real shame.

I wasn't being hostile, just asking him why he's selling it for so much when he was told what it actually is worth...

I just used facts and reason, not calling him names...

I'm all for him getting what it's worth, but not trying to sucker someone less informed than he is...

This place is not hostile, just SOME guys, and good guys, can be sometimes. Now the NAP forum, all bets are off!!

I agree. This place is a mostly great group of folks, but right now this kid is likely feeling beat up and wondering why he came here. If folks really want to help him, send him a PM and offer your advice. Doing it in the open forum and joining in the piling on like that for sale thread turned into isn't doing anyone a good service.

And besides, if you were a newbie with something you think is valuable and a bunch of strangers told you it was worth far less and sell it for the price they say...would you blindly follow and accept their advice?

I didn't post in the for sale ad because comments are not allowed in there. I did post in the forum where comments are "legal"...

Not really. The unofficial motto is 'hide with pride.' Strategic Deterrence patrols underwater on Trident submarines. Average two and half months per deployment, twice a year, two boats for five years, and this last boat for three years. If I become a combat vet, it's the second coming, the apocalypse. THe weather includes fallout and the global map changes, so i get paid to be the back end of the big spear-not the 'tip of the spear' as they say.

It's sooooo good to be back. One feels institutionalized with strict routine and a command that micro manages every last waking minute of our awake time. Plus, i miss the sun also. It is weird to miss the sun. I am looking forward to driving my ROad Runner!
Follow this thread but seldom post. I am a bit claustrophobic cannot imagine how you do what you do however it must be interesting. Do hope your training for the "apocalypse" is tax payers money well wasted! Appreciate what you do. Thank you

I wasn't calling you out Karl, just commenting in general. :)

Ok, I was tempted to get on him, but kept my cool and just confronted him with the facts in the forum that allows it...

I don't mind someone making a good profit and getting what a part is worth, but when you try to inflate it way beyond it's price to take advantage of other people gets to me....

lets just call him misguided -- for now anyway - he's 16 (or so he says) - someone had to fill his head up with that inflated value BS - or he just threw it out there to see if it would stick.. there's no one on here, or anywhere, that is going to fork over that kind of $$ for that trans

I read back through a few posts here. I need to read more I see. We can talk in here as long as it stays under control. There are things that we shouldn't get into here. Stuff like heated arguments about politics or gross sexual stuff (including photos) LOL Sometimes you just need a place where you can blow off a little steam. I know I have been getting frustrated with new inexperienced members lately. Not because they are inexperienced but simply because they are. Now I realize that all of us aren't born with the car gene but many newbies really don't have a clue. There was a guy that asked whether the center section of his 8 3/4 was ok to jack on to lift the car. I just shook my head. If he doesn't know that, he has no business pulling the pumpkin and installing a sure grip. Now I know they don't know that's why they are asking but I come from the school that you read and learn before I ask silly questions. If you guys get out of hand here I will step in (as a moderator and as the thread originator) and ask you tone it down. We as moderators have talked about the coffee shop thread and how it has taken on a chat room life of it's own and because I opened this shop I have a responsibility to keeping control here. You guys are great and I enjoy the banter. Hell a bunch of you have gotten together for lift day and personally know each other. I hope I can travel east sometime and see you all. Hey guys, keep it fun! (sorry for the long rant)

perhaps, but he was just told its worth 500. He knows someone just spent a lot more on the rebuild. If I was him I would take your 'offer" as an insult. Sorry, just my view.
Well I'm (an no person with half a clue) not gonna offer anything near what he thinks it's worth or what he currently has it listed for. Insulting would be offering like 20 bucks. Core push buttons can be found between 150-300 bucks all day long . Being it's from a big block car though, can sometimes push it to 4-5 hundred. I've been watching push buttons since I got my polara as that is what is in it. Rarely ever do they go above 500. Just cause someone over pays for something or dumps a ton of money into it does not always mean they're gonna get that money or value out of it. Especially without proof it was done by a knowledgeable person.

Oh crap, one of the Thunderbird jets crashed in Ohio while practicing for an airshow...

Ouch praying they are ok.

I didn't bash him on that thread either and yes I probably should have made my offer privately but oh well.
