    Valve seals

Thanks for the reply. All 12 are not seating and I am not sure where to dig in next. Really dont want to pull the head again and replace valves and I don't think they are the problem.

    Valve seals

replaced the umbrella valve seals when I pulled the head. Was very careful and put them on the correct valve. Fel pro seals. Car is burning oil. Lots of smoke on start up. Only 50k on engine. Pulled valve cover and seals are not sealing. They are sticking on the valve and coming to the...

Reconditioned Head, Looking for Smooth Re-start

One of the thing I did and highly recommend, if you have the head off hang it from an engine hoist and install the manifolds off the car. Makes life much easier and you are sure they are torqued correctly. Just lower the whole thing on with the hoist. Remflex gaskets are wonderful

    Hard start when hot

Thought I would post an update Had to take care of a few other issues - new radiator to cure highway over heating and a few other details. I did the fuel line mod. It helped a bit. A new coil helped even more. I thing the HEI mod is in my future. It is running much better. Daily driving...

    Choke stove question

Pishta - that's the one I need - not what I have Dan - I think that is a great idea. Thank you! An electric choke did wonders for my old 350 Chevy - my restoration project is a 70 4x4 Chevy truck - mechanical done, time for body work. I bought the Dart as a daily driver and have enjoyed...

    Help finding stud

Thanks for the replies. It is 5/16 on the small end and 3/8 on the other. I made one from a bolt that I cut the head off of and turned down and put threads on with a die. Works, but there has to be a source for these somewhere

    Help finding stud

I'm sorry for not being more clear - I do not need the studs that attach the manifolds to the head (have those - Ace Hardware is great!) I need the stud that attaches the manifolds together. The exhaust manifold has a 5/16" stud that is threaded into it with 1/4" threads on the end that goes...
