    Gear Vendors overdrive

yes and no - Case in point - ME! I have a 400 hp 360 3.23 gears and a 3800 stall dynamic 9.5" converter I used to have a mopar 175k converter with the same setup and burned it up with the tranny - Why? It was slipping. The 9.5" dynamic converter lowered my cruising RPM , raised my...

How did you pick your torque converter?

i had a mopar cheap $200 converter and ran it for a few years - I swapped to a dynamic 9.5" and what a night and day difference it made in the car - drove much better on the street - even at 3800 stall with 3.23's!!! compared to the 2500 stall of the mopar one It lowered my cruise rpm about...

    Converter advice?

I think you can get the best of both worlds with a new converter - I';ve been running a dynamic 9.5" for about 7 years now - It's a 3800 stall that works great with my 3.23 gears - my setup is similar to yours - and I run 12.50's in the quarter with the 3.23's and a short tire. I drive the...

    4 speed transmition oil

so the challenger in my post now has 114,000 miles with the original syncro's, gears, shafts, and shift plates. It needed bearings, gaskets and seals - so what longevity are we loosing running ATF?

    4 speed transmition oil

my dad bought a 1970 challenger new in late '69 - it came with AFT - we rebuilt the tranny when it hit 112,000 miles ( hard miles ) and guess what went back in? ATF. we didnt need any syncros, or gears either... so if the tranny has been taken care of the atf will not wear any more/ less then...

you can swap them - the driveshafts are different lengths so keep them together if you can
  13. D

What will I need to swap my 3.55 for a 3.23 SG

depending on the yoke - you might need a conversion u-joint - they both came in 7260 and 7290 versions. other then that you'll just need a housing gasket

how are 3500 stall conveters sopasto act

bottom line - ATI said the same thing... i'd burn up any trans / converter if i tried this.... you know what? they were wrong! I called Dynamic and ordered a 9.5" converter built to my specs. I HAD a mopar 2500 converter in it before - 3.23's and a 2500 mopar converter, that acted like, well...
