Same situation as yours except column shift. Changed rag joint out for Flaming River U joint. Ebay 96 Dakota starter. No dents needed. Even used studs for the outside header bolts. Installed with provided instructions.

Gibson Performance Mufflers Just change to these MWA mufflers for the sound you're looking for with no loss in power. Worked for me. 2.5" exhaust. Changed from a sporty kind of sound with strait-through Magnaflow kind of muffler to the muscle car tone I was looking for with MWAs.

Do these mufflers neck down inside the case or are they true to the inlet/outlet pipe size? Looks smaller inside just looking at the cutaway picture.

It should be fine as long as your down pipes aren't all rusted out and won't last as long as the rest of your new exhaust system. Gonna flow a lot better than a single exhaust and sound better too. Hopefully they will give you a little break on price for not doing the job completely. I had a...

Some say they are too quiet but I would call it more of a performance tone. Sounds completely different on my 5.9 magnum than the old 318. Are you looking at the 2.5" mufflers?

Like mine but have tail pipes. To each their own.

They can work. Not worth the trouble though. But like you said they sure are nice.

Not much help but mine fit terrible on a 72 Dart. Had to modify all over the place. After the mufflers to the tailpipes was the worst. Chevy tailpipes if you ask me! Spent as much on parts and labor as the kit cost. Sorry..... and good luck!

Mine hit the rag joint and required a $200 fancy U joint in its place to get the clearance I needed. Could have got TTI headers after all that trouble and $.

Headers won't turn to rust in a year. Less heat trapped under the hood, so... less hot air to be drawn into your engine. For a measly hundred dollars extra seems like a no-brainer. Protect your investment!

Accurate Exhaust isn't mandrel bent is it? Thought it was exactly like factory bends (accurate).

I had good luck with a exhaust shop the first time and not so much the second time. Hooking to the manifolds will need some fabrication anyway unless you go Accurate Exhaust or TTI. Big bucks.... If you know a good exhaust shop that you trust that would be a good option. Welcome to Accurate...

Max Flow SS Muffler MF1255 Love em. Yet to find a better muffler esp. for the price. Nice and quiet at idle. Same design as Dynomax, Magnaflow, and Borla but at least 50% less cost.

Sounds like a good plan. Best of both worlds.
