    I thought that the heater hose were 5/8" Will anyway, I use the Gates Power Gripe heat shrink bands For the heater I use #32924 15/16" to 1 1/16" range or, #32922 is 15/16" to 13/16" What is the OD of the hose you are using?

    I use the braided hose all the time, for the most part they are leak free. I like the Aeroquip stuff, but others have done a good job.

    Warped heater box....

    Being fiberglass, a little heat may help when you are trying to straighten it out. Just be careful when using the heat.

    Isn't that the newer cars run hotter than the older ones? My 408 runs around 180 to 190 on a hot day. Or maybe we are just splitting hairs here. I guess it is all preferences as to what you are looking for.

    To my knowledge there can be up to an inch clearance between the fan and shroud. There should be around 3/4" from fan to radiator.

    Now days it is a crap shoot to get a good thermostat. I have a 408 and have went through 3 bad thermostats. All three froze close and would not work. They were Stant, Moroso, Murry. Now using a Mr. Gasket which I checked in a pan with water on the stove.
