I was able to use like RRR said with hinge on car, I put a vice grip on the bent part of the spring and rotated around to the pin, then I used a plastic hammer to drive the spring onto the pin. A lot easier that I thought.

Can not rotate the piece that has the spring on it. There is a stop on it that is in the way. It will not go all the way around.

Got the car a 72 Duster back from the body shop. They painted the hood hinge and un-sprung the coil spring. I am getting old and can not get it back on the pin. Any thoughts as to how you get it back on the pin? I tried the other side off the car but with no luck.

I have a good template just need to know that the point of the hole is going forward on one side and back on the other side. or pointing in the same direction.

Thanks I have no reference to look at and the body guys has no idea as to what direction to put the point towards. I figured they use the same as the front, one yellow the rear red.

I used the AMD on my 69, goo fitting glass, I used the non tinted. Also use their gaskets, I found that they are better than some.

Have you tried a awl or sharp tool between the clip and rod, push hard towards the door skin.

Pull the circled clip and the arm come loose.

I use a long nose small vise grip. Clamp it on the lip and move back and forth away from the cylinder. Good Luck

What does your paint need for a finish to paint over. Some of the paints want only a 320 sand. Seal. paint, clear.

I use DX330 from PPG as a degreaser.

Sorry it is a automatic transmission. The tunnel has a dimple where to drill.

This may not section for this. We are converting the 72 Duster to a console shift and need to drill out the hole in the tunnel for the linkage. I think it is around 2 1/2" but want to make sure. It is too cold to go out and find the linkage and boot. Will have to wait until this weekend to drill...
