recore or new radiator? 70 dart slant/6

I did the swap on my wife's car. Went with a used A body 22" radiator and had it re-cored. Idles all day in the heat with no overheating issues. Great upgrade IMO

Pulling my 170 (and a few of questions)

You have to jack to car up pretty high to get the engine out from under....it's a great way to do it and works best if you have a lift. It's pretty quick doing it old school, especially if that's what your used to doing.

    225 /6 at 250HP?

True. I would add that MPG isn't really an issue for most rodders. Its SPM that matters. Smiles per mile. No matter what you build, the goal is to get it out, drive it, and enjoy it!:steering:

    225 /6 at 250HP?

I just did a slant 6 build in my wife's cuda. Did the heads with 340 valves, did a cam upgrade, did headers, did intake, did electronic ignition, did a 4 barrel and did the dual exhaust. It probably makes 180 hp max. I probably spent as much on it as a V8 swap. That being said, It runs...

Suggestions on performance upgrades for 225

Probably should measure first before you shoot it down. It fits with no issues in our bay and were still using the factory air cleaner for the one barrel. Granted it's been modified to fit the 4 but the location is not that far off from stock maybe an 1" or 2 max. It's slightly taller due to...

Suggestions on performance upgrades for 225

If you decide to go back to a four barrel set up consider Aussie Speed. They make Clifford and their products look like what they are. Antiquated but interesting artifacts. Not saying that's bad but A.S. is a modern interpretation that is an improvement over the original. The object of...

    225 Slant no spark

Go to MyMopar.com and you will find many trouble shooting guides that will help you further. Start with this one since your wondering about your ballast resistor. http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=115 Then move on if that doesn't solve your problem. If you keep digging you will eventually...

    225 Slant no spark

Sigh.....throwing money at the problem will not necessarily fix it. Try a bit of trouble shooting first. A multi-meter is a few bucks at Harbor Freight....much cheaper than coils and plugs and wires and distributors and etc. If you follow the simple test that 67Dart273 posted you could be...

Some new ideas for my Slant

X2. I built my wife's 6 ONLY because she insisted that I "keep her low production vert stock" Well I kept the block stock so she couldn't complain. V8 is the way to go if your thinking about wanting power. The six will be snappy...like a turbo 4 but never fast or neck snapping like a...

Some new ideas for my Slant

A great set up is stock rebuild with new pistons, there is a decent comp cam out there for our 6's and spend some money on the heads. Mild port. Use SSteel 340 valves and springs and shave a few thousandths off the top of the head. You should be able to get close to 9:1 which is decent for a...

    Looking for rebuild advise

I would look for a running slant out of a car that is getting an upgraded motor. You can find them complete for between 2-300 bucks if you keep a sharp eye out. That will leave you with a few bucks for dinner and a movie. :D...

what air cleaner are you running?

50 Bucks invested and it's the stock air cleaner so it looks like it belongs. A shitty Chinese air cleaner is about 30 bucks for comparison purposes. I prefer to reuse my old parts like other do.

what air cleaner are you running?

if your real cheap you can cut and flip your original base as well. For pizzazz you can chrome your air cleaner then put a new Super 225 sticker on it.

    Slant 6 904 TorqueFlight question

You'll need to make a custom bracket but you can use a Mr. gasket bracket (Oreilly's) and make it work. Chrysler has a kick down cable that is designed for use with your transmission. I used the kit one my /6 project and it works perfectly with the Mr Gasket bracket I modified. Couple of...

Slant Six / Carter BBS Heat Soak

New gas is **** for old cars. Why do you think they want them gone for good. Remember the early 80's when they had all the bone yards crush every thing they had so nothing could be rebuilt? All the new cars run EFI....all the gas is formulated for EFI not NA. Nuff said....quit...

Slant Six / Carter BBS Heat Soak

Vapor will still be able to get through the line back to the tank and you wont have heat soak. Trust me we have fixed several cars in the last year this way. The new gas is formulated to vaporize quickly as that is better for EFI. That is a major reason for heat soak and vapor lock these...

Slant Six / Carter BBS Heat Soak

Ditch that plastic fire bomb filter and get a metal filter with a return line to vent the vapors back to the fuel tank. You will have to run a return line and get it back into the tank. Depending on your sending unit, you may already be set up for it. You do that and your problems should end...

Slant 6 - how to remove safely

    lokar kickdown issues

You can use a mopar kick down cable kit and make a bracket for the carb using an off the shelf cable bracket and modifying it if you dont buy the complete kit. A throttle return spring bracket may also need to be made but can be done using old brackets or some bar stock, a drill and a file...
