Engine dyno software. Anything good on the Internet?

You need to check on your "personal use " theory. So if I rent a dvd and make a copy for my own "personal use", it's ok? Naaah! Don't think so. So it's ok if you just do it sometimes because we're not perfect? Some people here will go and download Desktop Dyno and it will be okay cause...

273 coolant drip right exhaust bolt hole

Better to put studs in front and rear so if you need to remove the manifold or replace the gasket for any reason, you can do it without worrying about losing coolant.

does this 360 t chain look too loose?

I pointed out what I could see. The other portion of the pic is so dark, it would be a guess as to what was going on there. I did see your other pic with the straight edge and as I said before, your chain is fine. Some of the folks are here for the giggles, not to help. Dennis

does this 360 t chain look too loose?

Here is how I was taught. http://i968.photobucket.com/albums/ae170/obe1kanoby/Tape2_zps502f9d94.png You start here. http://i968.photobucket.com/albums/ae170/obe1kanoby/Tape_zps78f98eb2.png You end here. On the same side of the chain. Not switch measuring one side of the chain to the other...

does this 360 t chain look too loose?

It looks to me like you are getting a little less than 3/8 of movement in the chain. You use the same side of the chain each time. Not the inside edge one time and the outside edge the other. Not that bad really. Dennis

    hardened exhaust seats

From what I have read, hardened seats started in 73. I think all cars were burning unleaded by 75(by law) and so manufacturers started getting ready early. Will a good valve job make a difference? No. Many people argue about whether hardened valve seats are even needed. I have never personally...

68 Dart upper Radiator hose help

It is a Dayco #71281. One end of the hose has to be trimmed off but works great. Should be able to cross reference with other brands. Sorry for the delay. Had knee surgery Friday. Here's what mine looks like.

    ignition timing

You still have to turn the dizzy and adjust the timing. Just setting it in with the engine at TDC and the rotor at #1 is only to get it running. You still need to put the light on it....or vacuum gauge. Dennis

78 Van 318 going in 75 Duster head problem.

Tap 1/4-20 like they said. You might even want to grind those pads down some while they are out. When I went to put my exhaust manifolds on, they hit on those pads and they were the only ones I could use on my car. Dennis

Will JB Weld actually hold up in that use or will you have little chunks of it flying around in your dizzy in a week or so? Just wondering? Dennis

    75 318 Dart won't start and backfires!!!

It sounds to me like your friend didn't do you any favors. It sounds like you have spent some change throwing parts at your car when you say it was running good before you started. Cost you some money and headaches. If it was running good before you started, the only things that changed were...

    360 noise????timming issue?

Have you got all the right length bolts in their correct place? Sometimes too long a bolt(like the ones on the fuel pump) interferes with the timing chain.

    small block exhaust manifolds

Have you seen this? http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=70 Also, nowhere do I see a mention of a 3751084 casting number in the listing so I can't really say. How does it have a 5/74 date on it when it came off of a 71 Cuda? Maybe someone else on here can answer that. As for fitting the...

    New cam and idle

In my initial post, I said Once you take off, it runs fine. It's just the idle that I'm concerned about. I know it is a small(but quite a ways from stock) cam but just can' seem to get it to idle smooth. It sounds like a big cam. Only other thing I'm not feeling real warm and fuzzy about is...

    New cam and idle

Were there any mods to the engine to run that much advance? Factory service manual only calls for 10 I believe. I've checked for vacuum leaks and done this also. All it did was choke it out. The idle is not horrible, you can just tell that it isn't stock. I don't mind really, just wasn't...

    New cam and idle

Hi all. First off, I would like to thank everyone on the forum who has helped with parts or info on my project. It's up and running and hauls butt. You guys have been invaluable. Now, on with my problem. My project has been building and installing a 318 in my 66 Valiant with a /6. The engine...

how do you sleeve pshrod holes?

I'm curious. Why would one sleeve a pushrod hole? Most people are opening them up for 1:6 rockers and stuff. Has it been opened up to a point that it breaks thru into the runner area? Or maybe porting? Curious minds need to know. Thanks.

    Maximum head milling

I know my 1970 318 was unmolested and it had the .019" steel shim gaskets and the pistons were sunk .078" in the block. All the dimensions that were quoted in the day were just what they were shooting for but rarely any of them built to those specs. I worked in the auto mfg. industry during...

    Maximum head milling

Well, looks like no one is gonna help you and I don't have the answer. Lot of variables here I think. Too many to give a straight up answer. Do you want to avoid taking material off the intake side of the head? Is it going to have the stock cam? Do you want to spend mega bucks for super thin...

    Engine oil smells gasoline

By bad fuel pump they mean that the diaphragm in the pump is bad. Also, you say you can, see the timing mark? Sometimes you need to slow the idle down to be able to see it.

Help! Pushrod Clearance with 1.6 Rockers

Did the top of the hole using a burr bit and a die grinder. It wasn't too difficult.

Help! Pushrod Clearance with 1.6 Rockers

Yes on both counts. I've built 2 engines with 1:6 rollers and had to clearance both. And that does look too far forward on the valve to me.

    Help identifying motor mounts

According to the 1966 FSM, fit a 116,117,119 and 121 wheelbase Mopar. Longer than an A body. I have a pair for sale on another forum. Know anyone who wants a nice set, let me know. Someone here said they had a pair of V8 mounts for my car(1966 Valiant) and that is what they sent me. NOT!
