How fast in the 1/4 have you gone with 1 5/8 headers with 3" collectors? ET, mph and car weight? Thanks.

12.7@108 26.99 tall street tires 340 727 3.23s spray 243@50 trapping in 2nd 3600 lbs
manifolds run 11s

11.40s that was with 1.625 primaries and 2.50 collectors and complete 2.50 exhaust. Dougs headers.

I'd like to help, but I don't think I've ever had headers as small as 1 5/8.

Wait. Maybe on my four banger vega.......
Some of you racers just can’t help yourselves with anything not “race” enough can you? :poke:

You forgot to add maybe “on a dump truck” or maybe on a “tow motor”

11.10, 120.48 mph, 360, Eddy heads, Thorley D-Dart headers, 1 5/8 inch tube, 2.5 collector, 3030 with me in it, 65 Barracuda

B Body. 451 CI 1 5/8 full exhaust to back bumper, full interior street.
11.90's@110 mph auto,4.10 gear 3800 lbs with me in it.

Ran 1 5/8 hooker competition series on a 340 many times. Worked great. I also had them on this Duster. Fit nice didn't hit anywhere and ran and performed good when sold.

I know you’re making changes to things, but if it was just headers, How much better do you think it’d do with those headers you just bought?

wish I knew. Couple guys that have forgotten more than I know said 25-30 horse perhaps. Dwayne was one of them
not sure what that is on a time slip.
only other thing I am doing is freshening trans, and changing flash on vert( hoping I am going the right way on that)..lol
decided not to swap to 1.6 intake rockers

I knew you were running 1-5/8 and often mentioned yes it was a compromise, but that they fit so nice and for (up to now) they were staying put. I’m no where near that level of performance but could probably use bigger diameter tubes as well. My issue is my exhaust is bent and positioned to fit the Dougs and unless an upgraded set sets exactly as they do I’d need to redo the head pipes. Not happening anytime soon:BangHead:

I have the intention to reuse the 3 inch Kooks mufflers I have on the car.
probably gonna take some fab work, i know a couple local guys who are real good with exhaust.
as I drive the car a good bit, it’s gonna need to be made to work

A good friend of mine had 1 3/4" headers with 3" on his '73 dart sport with a built 360. He finally went with 1 5/8" long tube headers from Doug's and a 2 1/2" exhaust system and it ran a lot better. Bigger is not always better.

Then there was something else wrong.

You going to apologize for the red X when I test all this **** and show that big tube headers on low compression engine MAKES power IF you don’t kill it will *** backwards cam timing???
