Have a 1973 Dart Swinger 318,Auto. Thinking about putting an intake of a 340 on it. What do I have to do to make sure it is set up right for the transmission? I know the transmission is not as strong as what would be on a 340.

I think he is asking about the kickdown linkage.
What do you have now? Is it one piece or three piece?

You will need to get the 4 bbl throttle bracket and then lengthen the kick down rod that goes to the carb about 1 1/2"...

One of our members did a nice thread on converting a 318 2 bbl to a 4 bbl... 6pk2goDemon can you post a link to your thread, I can't find it...

Thanks for the info. It is a 318 2 barrel going to a 4 barrel and its the info on the kickdown I am looking for. I had a 1973 Dart Swinger years ago and had problems with the transmission when I did this. Did a lot of racing with the car back then but don’t plan on racing this one.

Thanks will be using a stock 340 intake and stock Carter thermoquad carb.

That's one, but it's also the most expensive one.:D
I run an aftermarket cable not made by lokar on my A500 that works just fine.

It sure simplifies that whole problem of steel rods and pivot points geometry.
