Since I have been into mopars all my buddys have 509 mopar cams in there bigblock b bodies the engines are stock piston low compression 915 heads no work 3500-4000 stalls.they run 1170s-1150s.well Im thinking about the same idea but with a 360.but I wanna start with a zero deck shortblock with kb107s.I found 3 360s for sale down the road for really cheap.ive changed all my plans now.it would be cool to c how it would run with iron ram magnum heads with 202 valves they flow pretty good cfm.

There r a few on here wuth less heads and compression then the ine I wanna build running high 11s

I'm running 10.90's with iron MP heads and 1.96 intake valves (1.6 Exhaust). I wouldn't get too hung up on the 2.02 deal, however, a good port job can help in this area. The cam in our old reliable is .547 I, .554 E, .256@.050 duration. Flow on the intake side is 193@.300, 224@.400, 242@.500, 245@.600. Exhaust is 147, 167, 177, 182 respectively. This is also a KB piston equipped short block stock stroke 360. We ran the cast crank for years, but at the last freshen found a small crack, so we went to a forged crank. Still stock rod, stock caps.

Id like to hear more of your combo.my car is mainly race street.I will not be driving it more than lets say ,5-10 miles ave maybe 2 couple days a week to have fun around block and trailer to the track famoso.I mensioed the 202 magnum iron rams because they flow almost 250 cfm already.where wil I find a new set of heads to flow that much for 1200 they are way cheaper than eddys and flow better I believe.the way they come no extra work.which cam u running .I plan on zero fecking some kb107.should have perfect quench with closed chambers and 40 gasket.I love mopar cams!I really hate it when people say trash that cam.those are the same peeps who say trash that 318.lol

u mite want 2 check the small block subforum and look @ the combo some peeps is posting.....you can finds lots ov info on hear buy serching thru old archived posts.
I know I have on Several occasions in threads over a few year old.

I had a MP 509 cam in a 360, OOTB edelbrocks, 10.7:1 compression, 750dp, 3500 converter, 4.10 gear. It ran 13.5-13.8 in Colorado (11.1 on spray), 12.4 in the 1 pass I made in Indiana before I killed the motor.

Well, guess what....there are MUCH better cams out there :D. That cam is kinda like a light switch, either it's on or it's off....4000-6500 RPM it makes decent power, below that it makes very little torque.

If you are looking for a "hot" street/strip cam, check out the Comp XE series cams, or the Lunati Voodoo series. Both of these are much better choices with more modern lobe design (not 30+ years old) that will probably make more power across the entire RPM range.

SO what's your question? If you wanna do it, just do it. It'll run like a bat outta hell with enough converter and gear.

In the archives they have a 360 kb107 750 dp tm 5 intake, coan 3500 391 gears 28 slicks, runs high 11s mopar 508 cam, simple and it has 188 160 stock unported heads.id be happy if I got even 12.00 from it.plus later few more picked items low 11s

Your gonna need to pick something and go with it. As you go along, you'll figure it out, spending tons of money, breaking things, trying different cams. It's part of the deal.

I have a similar 360 combo just built.
360 LA fresh .30 over, stock crank, new Indy "Dart" J casting heads 202 and 160, MP purple cam, KB quinch pistons, heads and block decked, .60 head gaskets, 750 Holley DP, Edelbrock intake milled .70 to fit, 373 gears with Richmond locker...stock 727 with stock 727 TQ (1400?) and I ran it for the first time a few weeks ago...15 second quarter.:violent1:
I know I can get another second out of it with tuning. Desperately needs higher stall converter! Very doggy under 3000 rpm then comes alive 3000-5500.
Just my combo...hope it helps.

This is the smartest statement, so far....
Have you tuned anything, like this?.....

Before I build somthing I find a couple of the same combos so I know its a consistent build.ive found a few but the convertors and gears are differnt

Go spend money. Go watch Famoso, ask all Mopar people....... Test n' tunes.....

I just wanna pick the rite route.this cam in some cases run 13s.some run 10s and there is the middle thats.where i I wanna b.iI know im gonna run kb107 @0.unsure on a few if they were.j heads are pricy nowa days.after hearing about the 202 valves hurt this combo.gotta run the 188/160.iI could run magnums but they have slightly larger valves at 192.dont wanna mess with the velocity factor.it also seems these combos are not 0 deck?what heads flow/work with a combo like this.cant afford j or eddy. It doesnt mater what gear im gonna start at either the 373 or 410 with 275/60/15 which is 28.im not gonna buy edellbrocks out of my current budget maybe for later use.its funny the simple part 508 combos run faster then some eith more radical parts

Phone is freezing.what would be an equivalent head to the 188 valve j heads.these engines dont have quence, apparently it doesnt matter might loose power with quence on this type of setup.its vey confussing to c 2 combos almost identical but second faster or slower

The 308 head would be good. If you can find some uncracked. That cam is huge for a hydraulic. If you want it to run, it's gonna need a loose converter around a 3500 and at LEAST 4.10 gears and it likes 4.30s better.

With 391 gears the combo with 391 gears.28'slicks 3500 coan went through traps ,5700 -6000 1190s 112 mph.how would the 430 gears go with that?

http://vexer.com/automotive-tools/speed-rpm-calculator As RRR said, that's a big hyd cam for a 360. A cam of that size would have a powerband upwards of 7000 . At that rpm , I feel that a solid would be a better choice. And as already mentioned, its gonna need some converter or it will be a dog. My opinion, keep the 440, sell the SB.:D

I ran a KB107 360 w/508 Purple shaft and it was the happiest motor I've ever owned. The heads had 2.02 valve w/bowl work only. Low Gear 904. Consistant 11.70 @ 115 @ 3050 ft. Best pass ever was 11.49 @116 @ Speedworld in Phoenix. It had a 1.49 60'. 3000 lbs Duster T/A convertor, 4.56 Gears and 13x31 Slicks. The motor has been in my sons street car for years and got to the Final 4 Pinks Allout Tucson in 2007 running 12.50's. later matt
