HDK Tubular Coil Over for Stock Steering

Yes.....

Now back on the front burner with the A body model tweeked and in production.

I got a set coming ....I'll see when they get here.

Believe they're different. At least the socket is.

I can't believe this but Amazon prime said Sunday delivery and the USPS just brought my set of Moog K704 BJs here at 7:15 AM Sunday AM. Take that Useless Parcel service. Looks like I'll be painting UCAs today.

Darn things feel awful tight compared to the old ones. I wonder how much sticktion new ones will have compared to the old ones. Maybe I'll just use the new boot for now.

Here is a link to pics of the HDK setup on my KOS Demon. The uppers were already on the car from back in the day and I don't know who made them. I will be changing the upper arms to heim joints. I tried a set of the forged bushed ends like Denny uses, but my UCA arms are not exactly parallel like they need to be for them to work! No wonder I couldn't keep bushings tight on the old ends. I will need to tie the upper shock mount to my snout bar, which isn't shown but it is right there where the HDK hoop brace goes.

I am not using a brace for the back of the LCA pivot. IMO, strong enough without it, at least I am willing to try without the brace. Worst case I think is a bent pivot.

Notice the washer on the front of the pivot. It can be welded to the K frame to beef up that point. I talked Denny into making me a set of pivots that are 3/4" through the K frame. So I used a 90* air drill and a step bit to open the K frame hole to 3/4", so now the pivot is tight again like new. I will weld that ara next time I have the K frame off.

Edit: My buddy came over yesterday after hunting and I had him make me some pics. That's him with a buck he shot. Ignore that chebby **** on his page.

Been building K packages left and right.

Spooled up for another batch of coil only LCAs......just waiting for a call from machine shop that the ball joint ends, pivot shafts, and strut spuds are ready for pick-up. Being small, I get squeezed in between the large contracts. The laser cut pieces have been cut and ready for a month.

Also gearing up for the B/E body version.

In between, I'm the general contractor for a new HDK shop....now, .ready for framing....and gutting / rebuilding a 4-unit rental on the property.

When I get in a place where I have some additional room.....I will start assembling the HDK rear package and a couple other projects.

......and the beat goes on.
(just saw that on another thread)

Now you're copying stuff again. lol

Several asked for a HDK adaption of a 4-bar. Since a bigger shop gives me room (no longer required to move 5 things to do a different task).....and time, I will start putting "things" together.

it is a secret. :)

don't worry, I always share.

I got lots of other stuff I want to try too. You guys are lucky I'm 60.....if I was 20, no holding me back.

So as I wait for my brakes to come back from Lamb I have been setting up the front end some more. With my heavy Mega block 540/440-1 motor, the 500# 8" springs on the Viking shocks look about right. I have them set now with 1" more compression left in the shocks which is a tad under 1/2" gap on the lower snubber. That will get finalized on the tires with me in the car. For some reason after I put the springs on the rebound bump stops I had already adjusted were too short and had to be lengthened a tad so the shock wasn't the extension stop. Alignment is a breeze now with the heims on the upper CAs, and some nice tapered spacer do-dads to put the arms where they need to go in the frame.

Good stuff and I can't wait to get it on the road / track. Looks like as long as I keep good air pressure in the front tires, wheelies should be OK with the deep Moroso pan.

Think you'll have room in the new shop for a 64 crew cab to fit it with a new front and rear suspension? You know, stock like. :color:

at the top of the list......

you gonna want your new gen Hemi in it?

HDK is on the forth production run now, which should be ready for shipment in 2 to 3 weeks.
1/3 of this run are already sold.

stupid question probably. How do i find the correct Position to drill the holes in the Frame for the braces?
Bolt in the top shock support and the frame hole bolt location will be easy to identify and mark, then remove the support and drill the frame.

Are you drilling for the support hoop, or the lower control arm brace? If it's the lower control arm brace, you have to install the new lower control arm, and mock it all up. I held my braces with c clamps while I drilled thru each side. Then I removed the brace, and drilled one side for the sleeves.
